The Role of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) in Supporting Cost Management during the Product Design Phase

Abstract

 
This research aims to clarify the benefits of Enterprise resource planning systems (ERP), which works to Supporting and enhance the application of  Target Costing Approach and then strengthen the competitive advantage of  Egyptian companies, To achieve this aim, previous studies has been inductive and illustrate previous studies and analysis to development research hypotheses, and tested by Applied study, And through the distribution of questionnaires to a sample of financial managers and accounting costs and the Director of the Department of Information Systems, in a number of industrial companies in the Arab Republic of  Egypt and applied to Enterprise resource planning systems, in addition for an personal interviews with them. The research found that ERP systems provide the necessary support and information to help companies and motivate them to apply Target Costing approach through the product life cycle to enable companies to Costing management and achieve competitive advantages.
