The Mediating Role of Information Technology in the Relationship between Organizational Structure and Organizational Learning: Applied to Egyptian Governmental Organizations

Abstract

The research aimed to measure the role of information technology as a mediating variable on the relationship between organizational structure and organizational learning in the three government organizations (Central agency for Organization and Administration, Egyptian Meteorological Authority, and Al-Azhar University). The study relied on the descriptive analytical approach, and the necessary field data were collected to measure the study variables and verify the validity of the hypotheses through a questionnaire directed to a simple random sample of employees at Al-Azhar University, the Central Agency for Organization and Administration, and the General Authority for Meteorology in Cairo, consisting of (250) individuals. The study data were analyzed using the SPSS v23 application, and the Amos 24 application, where various statistical tests and measures were used, such as correlation and regression analysis. The statistical analysis' results confirmed that the measurement scales used in this study met the acceptable standards of validity and reliability of analysis. The statistical analysis outcomes are the presence of a significant effect of three dimensions of the organizational structure (complexity, formality, and specialization) on organizational learning, and the presence of a significant effect of two dimensions of information technology (the degree of technology inclusion). The study concluded with a discussion of the results and their implications, study recommendations, limitations, and future studies.
