Abstract

Egypt is suffering from severe lack of using information technology in education. The present study seeks to Identify some of the factors which determine the teachers' attitude and their use of information technology using the Technology Acceptance Model (Davis,1989) and Innovation Diffusion Theory (Rogers, 1983) as its theoretical foundation. Data collected from 636 teachers in ElBuhyrah and Alexandria has been tested by using Structure Equation Modeling. The results showed significant effect of perceived ease of use and perceived compatibility on perceived usefulness, also significant effect for the teacher's behavioral beliefs (perceived ease of use, perceived compatibility and perceived usefulness) on his attitude towards technology, as well as a significant effect for perceived compatibility on use. The results also revealed that gender and computer ownership significantly affect attitude, but they don’t affect use. Finally the teacher's experience and technology competence had a significant impact on technology use. The study confirmed Goodness of Fit Index of the suggested model for teachers' accepting and using technology.
