The impact of E-Government on Economic Growth: Econometric Study on the Egyptian Case during the period (2003-2018)

Abstract

The Global Economics is faced recently by new megatrends which implies sustained and macro-economic forces of development that affects business, economy, society, governments, cultures and personal lives thereby defining our future world and its increasing pace of change. As a result, there are massive technological advances and new financial tools as well as services. This improvement -by the trend of digital economy- produced more tremendous developments in the field of ICT and has led to the emergence of E-government, which provides public services to citizens using easier technological means. Accordingly, the study aims at investigating the impact of adopting E-government on Egyptian economic growth, taking into consideration the corruption variable as an intermediate variable in the relationship. To achieve this target, the study depends on the descriptive approach to clarify the theoretical concepts as well as empirical reviews that is in addition to Empirical approach to investigate the impact of E-government using OLS simple regression. The results showed a positive signifacnt impact of e-government on economic growth either directly or indirectly through the intermediate variable- corruption. Finally, some policy implications will be highlighted with respect to improving the performance of e-government in Egyptian economy.
