Analytical Study of Establishing and Developing the South Korean Shipbuilding Industry

This research discusses and analyzes the South Korean Ship building industry development experience and its competitive capabilities, which resulted in the emergence of the South Korean shipbuilding industry as a competitive industry among world top shipbuilders, and later on became the world leading shipbuilder till present, as a matter fact, this success was based on a comprehensive strategy implemented by the state and was supported by integrated government policies, on the other hand , the South Korean shipbuilding sector chartered a competitive ,technological, marketing strategy based on specific ship type and ship tonnage building specialization stages . Moreover, a high level of integration with the other production and industrial sectors in South Korea was achieved, due to the fact that ship building is a giant assembling industry that counts on feeding from various industries which exchange economic benefits with the ship building industry. The four decades deep concern of the South Korean State to support the national shipbuilding industry is attributed to the role of this industry as a leading economic locomotive in the national development process. This research was concluded by presenting the South Korean state strategies and governmental policies followed to develop this important sector, and recommended the necessary steps to lead such a success in ship building industry in Egypt.
