The Impact of Organizational Cronyism on Deviant Work Behavior: Mediating Role of Workplace Envy and Moderating Role of Organizational Anomie - An Empirical Study on Employees in the Services Directorates in Beni Suef Governorate

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the mediating role of workplace envy on the relationship between organizational cronyism and deviant work behavior. Additionally, it investigates the moderating role of organizational anomie on the relationship of both organizational cronyism and workplace envy to deviant work behavior. Data were gathered from 273 employees in the services directorates in Beni Suef governorate. and analyzed using SPSS V.26 and Smart-PLS V.4 software. The study found that there is a direct positive effect of organizational cronyism on both workplace envy and deviant work behavior, and a positive effect of workplace envy on deviant work behavior. The findings also revealed that workplace envy partially mediate the link between organizational cronyism and deviant work behavior Moreover, organizational anomie was found to positively moderate the relationship of both organizational cronyism and workplace envy with deviant work behavior in the services directorates of Beni Suef Governorate.
