The Relationship between Strategic Leadership and the Internal Work Environment: The Mediating Role of Organizational Commitment

Abstract

The current study aimed to evaluate the mediating role of organizational commitment on the relationship between strategic leadership and the internal work environment, by conducting an applied study on employees of tax offices in Damietta Governorate. Through the analysis of questionnaire data obtained from 396 of all employees of the Damietta Governorate tax district, who work at all administrative levels. SPSS28 and AMOS27 programs were used to analyze the data obtained. Through this program, the study hypotheses were tested, which concluded that strategic leadership practices are applied to a high degree, and the highest applied axis was organizational culture, followed by the ethical practices axis, and the least applied axis is human capital. As for the internal work environment variable, it is applied to a moderate degree. The organizational commitment variable is applied to a moderate degree, and the highest applied axis was normative commitment, followed by emotional commitment. By presenting the results of tests of the hypotheses of the study model, it was proven that there is a significant, statistically significant effect of strategic leadership practices on the internal work environment within the Damietta tax district missions. It was also found that the most influential practices are the focus of investing in core capabilities, and the least influential are the focus on ethical practices.
