Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate how Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) and Psychological Capital explain Job Engagement. This study also aims to examine the influence of Psychological Capital, as a moderator, on the relationship between Leader-Member Exchange and Job Engagement. Primary data was collected based on a questionnaire collected from a sample consisting of 358 nursing staff working in hospitals and medical centers at Mansoura University in Egypt, among them was 287 valid surveys with a response rate of 80%. Partial least Square (PLS) was used to Validate and test the measurement and structural models. The finding revealed that Leader-Member Exchange, as a multidimensional constructs, and Psychological Capital were significant determinants of Job Engagement. Besides the significant direct effect, Psychological Capital was found to be a significant moderator and was able to strengthen the relationship between Leader-Member Exchange and Job Engagement.
