Abstract

Multimodal transportation contributes to the absorption of a large number of labor. This study aims to highlight the importance of the economics of international multimodal transport and its role in making the port of Hodeidah a pivotal logistical point or logistics hub. The extent to which the multimodal transport sector contributes to achieving economic development and its developmental impacts on the Yemeni economy. The study focuses on the port of Hodeidah due to its capabilities, components and location of strategic importance which makes it a pivotal logistical center competing with other local, regional and international ports. The Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation is also one of the most important economic sectors contributing and active in the comprehensive development renaissance that Yemen has witnessed over half a century. The researcher sought to prepare a field study by designing a survey list to identify the opinions of a sample of the study population, which is represented by workers in the port of Hodeidah, to get their opinions on “the role of multimodal transport in transforming the port of Hodeidah into a pivotal logistical center for achieving economic development in Yemen,” and to analyze statistical data, in highlighting the effective role that can result from building an integrated transportation matrix in Yemen, especially those related to port modernization.
