The Impact of Glass Ceiling Factors’ for Women’s Taking Leading Positions on Their Work Motivation: With Application on National Press Organisations in Egypt

Abstract

This research aims at measuring the impact of glass ceiling Factors’ for women’s taking overleading positions on their motivation toward work, this research was applied on a sample of 355 individual journalists working in National press organizations.and this research depends on the deductive approach  and Structural Equations Model (Confirmatory factor analysis)  to verify the validity of the indicators that measure variables in addition to exploring the direct and indirect relationship between these research variables.
The study revealed that there is indirect negative significant impact of these factors for women taking over leading positions on their motivation to work by analyzing the intermediary role of the glass ceiling, and also showed that the most important factors for women taking over leading positions affecting their motivation towards the work are: (cultural, then organizational, followed by social, and finally factors regarding women themselves). In addition, there is a negative significant impact of the glass ceiling in the motivation of women towards work. There is also a direct negative significant impact on each of the cultural and social factors of women themselves in the motivation of women towards work, while the results did not show a significant impact on both organizational and religious factors on women motivation towards work.
