Potentialities for activating the role of the natural reserves in Egypt as a mechanism for developing sustainable eco-tourism

Abstract

This study aims to identify the concept of ecotourism and sustainable tourism development and the requirements for its application, as well as the role of ecotourism in achieving sustainable tourism development, which is one of the goals of comprehensive economic and social development, because of its ability to improve the balance of payments and provide job opportunities, in addition to Contribute to achieving environmental sustainability by preserving natural and environmental resources. The advantage that ecotourism provides is linking investment and productive projects for the local community with protecting the environment and the biological and cultural diversity of tourist areas. Egypt is characterized by a variety of eco-tourism potentials, including valleys, plateaus, mountains, seas, lakes and both of marine & wild nature reserves that qualify it to be a eco-tourist attraction par excellence. However, insufficient interest in this tourism aspect reduced the role of ecotourism in achieving sustainable tourism development in Egypt.
