Mediating Workplace Bullying in the relationship between Big Five Personality Traits and Turnover Intention: Applied to the employees in City Councils in Dakahlia Governorate

Abstract

The current study analyzes the direct effects of the Big-Five personality traits might have on turnover intention, as well as the mediating role of exposure to workplace bullying behaviors. The sample comprised 373 employees from different city councils in dakahlia governorate, among them was 266 valid surveys with a response rate of 71.3%. Partial least Square (PLS) was used to Validate and test the measurement and structural models. The results indicated that Big-Five personality traits had direct effects on both workplace bullying and  turnover intention and an indirect effect on turnover intention through workplace bullying. The study showed that workplace bullying had direct effects on turnover intention.
